Coronavirus Information

Updated 17/05/2021

We are a small B&B with only 4 rooms in a hamlet of one inhabited building situated in a peaceful area of open countryside, so ideally placed to provide a safe and quiet place to start travelling again. Our cleanliness has always been rated very highly and we have now added additional procedures. Please see below a description of how we uphold all cleaning and safety recommendations while still ensuring that we give a personal service.

If there are any further questions, please just give us a call.

Covid-19 Policy

Cleaning

We have always done a thorough clean before your visit, which we will continue to do, but we have added the disinfection of all hard services, including door handles, light switches, remote control, kettle, hairdryer, and room keys.

The entrance area and breakfast room is disinfected after checkouts are completed, and again after eventual evening use. The cleaning includes all handles, light switches, and railings. There is a hand sanitiser at the entry, in the breakfast room, and in each private room. If you want to use anything in the breakfast room, such as the fridge or to browse through our book &map library, we ask you to either wash your hands first in your own bathroom or to use the hand sanitizer. The breakfast room is closed at 21.30 to be cleaned for the next morning.

We are not providing any housekeeping services within your room; only you will be in contact with the surfaces inside the room during your stay. Room servicing is simplified; please leave all used crockery and bins just inside the door when you go out for the day and we will change/clean whatever is needed, leaving it in the same place.

Breakfast

Our usual breakfast consists of a buffet of cereals, yoghurt and fruit, and homemade bread and jams, as well as a range of cooked breakfast options. We still provide exactly the same homemade and high quality breakfast but in a different format. There is not an assembled buffet in the breakfast room but all of the items are available by an ordering service. Breakfast is staggered over two sittings, as guests from only two rooms at the same time will provide the necessary social distancing in the breakfast room.

Lunch and Dinner

We have always offered packed lunches, based on sandwiches, and we also now provide packed salads as well.

We do not provide cooked dinners, but the breakfast room is available from 17.30 to 21.30, subject to appropriate social distancing, for eating any food that you bring from home or buy as takeaways. Please note that the breakfast room will close at 21.30 for cleaning to prepare for breakfast the following morning.

In good weather, outdoor seating is available for all rooms as well.

Information and Check-in/Check-out

We usually have a comprehensive folder in each room with practical information about Lowthwaite B&B, Food, and Local Tourist Attractions. The physical folder is currently replaced by an electronic version of this information that is emailed to you 3 days before your visit.

Check-in will still be a personal and welcoming experience, but we are wearing a mask or visor and carefully keeping the appropriate social distance. Our check-in time has been changed from 16.00 to 17.00 to give us sufficient time for the enhanced cleaning regime. We are not able to accept early check-ins or luggage drop-offs or check-ins after 21.30 with added workload of the current situation.

We also need to be more strict than usual about check-out time for the same reasons. The breakfast room is closed at 09.35 and all departures should be made by 10.00 to ensure sufficient time for the additional cleaning required.

Booking and Cancellation Policies

In recognition of the nervousness potential guests may feel about committing to specific dates, we have amended our booking procedures.

We will not take any deposits for new bookings before arrival (usually 30% and non-refundable).

Free cancellation is possible for all new bookings, provided that seven full days notice is given before arrival. Cancellations within the seven day period are subject to a charge of 50% of the full value of the reservation as stated in our booking confirmation.

We would very much appreciate if you will book directly with us in these difficult times.

Payment

Payment can now be made via bank transfer (details will be provide 3 days before arrival) or on the day of departure.

If you pay on departure we will ask you about debit (or credit) card details at some convenient time during your stay and take payment remotely (as an online or telephone sale). This avoids any contact with terminals and the need to access our office. A receipt is provided as usual. Please ask us if you have any questions or concerns about this process.
