Rookin House

Only a few miles from us Rookin House offers a wide variety of activities from horse riding to reverse steering to air rifle shooting.

A lovely place to go for local shopping, delicious eating, play area for children, 3D films and many events.

 

Gardens

Dalemain is the closest historic house and gardens. The gardens are lovely and there is a good view from the lower garden to Little Mell Fell..

Dalemain Gardens

Hutton-in-the-Forest has very old and varied gardens to visit, as well as an historic house.

Lowther Castle and Garden is an exciting project, bringing life back to an amazing place.

A bit further afield is Holehird Gardens, run by the Lakeland Horticultural Society. It is well worth a visit.

Learn to make bread at Little Salkeld watermill

We get all our breadmaking flour from Little Salkeld watermill, and they not only mill and sell flour, they can also teach you to make lovely bread.

Greystoke Cyclecafe / Quirky workshops

If you want to have fun learning something a bit different from the usual things, such as Natural Beekeeping, Dry Stone Walling, and Wire Garden Sculptures, Greystoke Cyclecafe (12-15 min from here) probably has something for you. There are many more offers, see here for dates and details.

Theatre by the Lake

This must be one of the most beautifully situated theatres in England - and it does some very good plays as well other events. We are currently working on offering guests a discount for tickets to the theatre.
