Lowthwaite's bedrooms
Lowthwaite has four bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms with showers and good baths. The rooms have all been thoughtfully furnished, carefully decorated, and they are all different. We have given them names after the views from each of them. See our new Virtual Tours for a full view of them all.
Matterdale room is a light first floor with an airy feel and good views over Matterdale Valley. There is a spacious sitting area, which can be converted into a good sleeping space for two children, making this an ideal room for a family, as well as an extremely comfortable room for a couple or two friends. |

The Garden room has a lovely, private, sheltered patio. It is a very cosy room with old beams, lots of atmosphere, and close-up views of an abundance of wildlife on the patio. It is ideal for a couple or two friends.

| Helvellyn room is the other big first floor room. From the comfortable sofa area, you can see Helvellyn (weather permitting, this is The Lake District!). This is a very distinctive room with plenty of space for two people, either a couple or two friends. There is the possibility to use it for a family of three (see picture of the enormous settee cum third bed) or four (if one is in a cot). | ![]() |

Blencathra room is a very special room, with the characteristics of a suite. There is a downstairs sleeping area in the old tractor shed, and an upstairs sitting area and bathrom in the hayloft. It is perfect for either a couple or two friends. |
Bathrooms

All our bathrooms are carefully designed with a long and deep bath, as well as a good shower. They are all individually shaped, decorated and tiled. Blencathra and Garden bathrooms have nice wooden floors salvaged from what used to be the living room floorboards in the old farmhouse. The picture on the left is from Matterdale's bathroom, and the right is from Helvellyn's bathroom. |

Gardens, Patios, and Fields
Not only the Garden room has a patio. Helvellyn, Matterdale, and Blencathra share a big terrace in several levels, with wooden chairs and tables, and a lovely trickling stream at the bottom. It's a very peaceful place to spend a some time with a book, enjoying a cup of tea and one of our homemade muffins. Lowthwaite is set within 1.5 acres of grounds ....... please ask Jim or Tine where the children can explore, and where superb views can be had of the surrounding fells for the effort of only a few minutes stroll.
